04/07 Distance Learning

1. My favorite international unit we did was Japan because we made sushi. I really like sushi and I was glad we could make it in class. It was fun rolling the sushi. It was a fun experience and would love to make it at home.

2. I wish we studied Afghanistan. Afghani rice is so good and I wish we could make it at school. The dish I like is called Kabuli Pulao and its basically a rice dish with raisins and nuts and chicken. It sounds kinda gross but it’s really good.

Questions #1: The most challenging aspect of the Summative lab was making sure we were putting the right amount of filling in each roll. If we put too much it would’ve ripped and if we put too little it wouldn’t have looked right.

Questions #2: Next time for plating, I would add a garnish. I feel like it adds color and makes the whole plate look much better. This time I made a decoration with the sauce on the plate.

Question #3: I think this unit went pretty well. I liked the crab Rangoon. It’s different from foods I usually eat. I was hoping we would make Kung pao chicken because that’s my favorite Chinese dish.

Question #1: I decided to take Foods Of The World because I think it’s interesting how different countries have totally different types of food. Each country uses their own techniques and ingredients. Even though some countries can be close to each other, the food they eat can be so contrasting.

Question #2: I am most excited to try the different foods and learn more about the other countries. I think it’s cool we get to learn how to make foods from other countries instead of just American food.

Question #3: I am most excited for the Japan unit because I feel like people can mix Chinese and Japanese cultures up so often. I would love to see how they differ culture and food wise.
